Meet Cosmic Spin.

The retro-modern and soulfully psychedelic sound of
Bara Waters & Robert Cassard

Cosmic Spin is the passion project of singer-arranger Bara Waters and singer-multi-instrumentalist-producer Robert Cassard. This married musical duo delivers a universally appealing musical mix.

Cosmic Spin’s lush harmonies and layered production create a mind-expanding soundscape — bending and blending genres including acoustic, rock, pop, folk, alternative, and country.

Their signature sound has been described as “Fleetwood Mac meets boygenius.”

Bara and Robert have been musicians since their childhood in Michigan, with Cassard having released his first solo singer-songwriter LP, Over the Line, at age 18.

After relocating to the West Coast, Waters and Cassard embedded themselves in the early '90s L.A. music scene, writing songs and producing artists for their independent label, Pentacle Records. In ‘95, they released Cassard’s critically acclaimed rock LP Get This.

In 2005, they brought the Under the Rock concert series to Laguna Beach, sharing the stage with many of the indie artists they had produced. They formed the acoustic rock quartet, Soulfolk, which performed throughout Southern California.

In 2010, Waters and Cassard migrated north to the San Francisco Bay and evolved into Cosmic Spin. By integrating percussion loops, backing tracks, and vocal effects into their live performances, the duo began captivating audiences with rich-sounding re-interpretations of iconic songs and heartfelt originals.

Their first studio EP, Gilding Lilies, was released in August 2019, with their innovative cover of Neil Young's After the Goldrush reaching #1 on the iTunes Alternative Folk Chart in the UK.

Since the release of their EP, Cosmic Spin has released a string of popular singles, including an update of The Jayhawks classic A Break in the Clouds, the Elton John/Pink Floyd mashup Rocket Man + Breathe, a loving tribute to Robbie Robertson of The Band called Fallen Angel, an Alt-Country cover of Springsteen's Tougher Than The Rest, a retro-rock cover of the Zombies' Time of the Season, plus the original ballad Messenger — which also peaked at #1 on the iTunes UK Alternative Folk chart following its release in 2021.
